Grand Rapids' Favorite Neighborhood Dive
Duke's has been a fixture of the Michigan Street corridor since the building first opened in 1931. Tucked at the corner of Michigan St NE and Grand Ave — right in the heart of Midtown — it's the bar Grand Rapids comes back to.
No pretense. No gimmicks. Just cold beer, solid food, great staff, and the kind of crowd that makes a Tuesday feel like a Saturday. Sports on every screen, pool table in the back, and a jukebox that still does the job.
Under new ownership and freshly remodeled, Duke's still carries everything that made it a neighborhood staple — now with a full kitchen, BYO pizza, weekly events, and a patio when the weather cooperates.
The vibe, the drinks, the food — see what makes Duke's worth the trip.
The people and atmosphere are absolutely amazing! The bartender, James, is a fantastic presence behind the bar — creating a relaxed and lively atmosphere with his unique style and engaging personality.
I came to Grand Rapids knowing no one. Becky immediately made me feel welcome when I stopped by for a drink. Since then I've met great friends here, celebrated birthdays, mourned deaths, and had the time of my life with the best staff you will ever meet.
I love Dukes for its great drinks, friendly staff, and unbeatable neighborhood vibe.
Duke's Bar is a lively spot with a great atmosphere, especially after its recent interior remodel. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is amazing. Parking is easy, and the neighborhood is walkable.
I had a couple of drinks at Dukes and enjoyed the time I spent there. The drinks were priced well and the beer was cold. I'd definitely consider coming to Dukes again.
Duke's might have the coolest sign of all the Michigan Street bars. Neon, zig-zags, slab-serif. Unlike the other dives, Duke's occupies the authentic, gritty bar vibe. The bartenders are cool, the jukebox is decent, and the beer is cold.
